Track 2 from the 2000 album “Beauty & Innocence”

In Retro it’s almost Emo. My favourite surf guitar solo, big chorus and a bit of a hit on JJJ thanks to Caroline Tran. The clip features footage from my Dad’s home movies. The band in Hawaiian shirts is live in the Surfer’s Paradise Hotel beer garden on a lazy sunday afternoon in the olden daze – long before the onslaught of hi-rise. About a block from there it was just bush. The aeroplane wing is on a DC3 from Chinchilla to Brisbane.

What I Want

Slow as the dawn, soft and warm
She opens her arms, the room changes form
and it’s what I want

Strange to be here, have no doubt
Smoother than eels, time slithers along
and disappears

Sharp as electricity, and bigger than the sky
When she comes to me, I get on her upside
And all the little things are nothing in my eyes

Shame is my friend, I can bend
She opens her arms, it’s love that she sends
and it’s what I want

Sharp as electricity, and bigger than the sky
When she comes to me, I get on her upside
And all the little things are nothing in my eyes

Sharp as electricity, and bigger than the sky
When she comes to me, you know I feel alright
And stupid little things are nothing in my eyes
