Mark Hilton & the Two Few + David Garnham & the Reasons to Live > JAN 2013
Sporting two new albums and brewed in the wild north, these two bands are coming your way!
Mark Hilton is a seasoned performer and prolific songwriter having collaborated with members of Procol Harum, Dead Can Dance, Crystal Set, The Black-Eyed Susans, Crown of Thorns, and the Working Class Ringos. Hilton is country blues, with urban smarts. Foot-tapping hoe-downs, slinky mood pieces and beautiful sad ballads. His 5th album, “Lookin’ At You” was released Oct 2012. It’s songs about the build-up and the breakdown. It’s aching hearts, wounded friendships, tropical splendour and saving graces – written in Bali, produced and recorded in Darwin by Mark with his current band The Two Few, and mastered in Nashville by Ray Kennedy.
“I think your songs are really beautiful” – Don Walker (Cold Chisel)
“A fantastic lyricist and songwriter. At times as heart-wrenching as running into your first love, while as liberating as hitting the road with the top down.” – Bek Devlin (Adelaide Advertiser)
“humour and pathos with a rare stamp of originality” – Fred E. Gostein (CitySearch)
Award winning songwriter David Garnham crafts ballads about booze and women, fuelled by isolation and self-loathing. Twisted love, the human condition and gin feature prominently in songs laden with candour and heartbreak. “Love Inside a Jar” is the acclaimed debut album for David Garnham & The Reasons To Live. It cleaned up at the 2012 NT song of the year awards, with the title track taking out the Country category, while the single “Here We Go” took out Blues & Roots, as well as Song of the Year. The band’s Darwin Festival show headed the list in a recent “Top 5 Gigs of 2012” street press survey and they have supported such acts as Jeff Lang, Liz Stringer, Mama Kin and Gomez.
“I love the way he writes from the heart.” – Bill Page (Creative Manager, Mushroom Music)
“Dave always has great songs… you never hear the work involved, such is his skill, and talent, and understanding of what goes into a great song.” – Charles Jenkins
“An artist with true integrity and soul.” – Glen Hannah (2010/11 CMAA Musician of the Year)
These artists bring together many years of touring experience covering Tamworth Country Music Festival, the Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival, St. Kilda Festival, Brunswick Music Festival, the Adelaide Fringe, the Darwin Festival, the Seabreeze Festival, the Woodford Dreaming Festival, countless pubs & clubs along Australia’s east coast and overseas tours to Bali, Vietnam and Nashville.
